Well, it seems Kingston can’t get enough Coffee. Why should the university be any different?
In fact, I’d wager that university students tend to drink even more coffee than most- at least at this time of year. And in response to this, yet another coffee shop is being installed in the rotunda at Stauffer Library.
It’s my understanding that this is a Sodexho project (yay!) where fair trade coffee will be sold. That sounds good to me, but didn’t a new caféish place just open? Indeed, The Tearoom has not even reached its first birthday (for its second time around, there was an original).
Cold food like sandwiches and pastries will also be served. If the sandwiches are like those available from other Sodexho campus outlets, I will happily abstain.
For those of us who don’t care to breathe fresh air while studying, the lack of a need to cross the street to get coffee will be refreshing. The café will be finished in winter semester.
In the meantime, students will have to pull up their britches and brave the elements, as well as deal with the construction noise.

I wish this could have been opened sooner. I guess it’s kind of redundant and I hope it doesn’t take business away from the CoGro – but their coffee is the shittiest stuff on the face of the earth. Oddly enough, the Sodexho stuff is better. It’s less acidic. I imagine a place like this will do well during exam times. I’m in Stauffer right now (4:30am) and the place is packed. Everyone looks haggared and in need of coffee.
