The Tea Room is a new cafe on the Queen’s University campus. Housed on the first floor of the ILC, at the corner of Union and Division, the Tea Room sits on the spot that the original campus Tea Room once stood, over thirty years ago!
The atmosphere at the Tea Room is not cozy, but it’s a beautiful mix of steel, concrete and glass. On a bright day the light floods into the cafe, making it a perfect spot to enjoy a good book and some of their tempting food! Aside from organic and fairly traded coffee and teas, they serve up a fairly extensive menu of sandwiches and desserts. Portions are good, prices are low, and it’s high quality food.
Perhaps the most refreshing thing about the Tea Room is that they are a zero waste coffee shop. Every cup or lid or straw can be recycled and the cafe even houses a Vermicomposter that composts biodegradable waste. Additionally, hefty discounts are doled out to customers who bring in their own mug.
We recommend: The hearty roast beef sandwich, some Leonard Field Lemonade and a Chocolate Chip cookie. Sit out on the patio at watch the campus world go by.
