Apart from having a totally asinine name, Philthy McNasty’s is a good place to hang out depending on the night.
This bar has three floors of differing sports themes, however alcohol flows freely on them all. In warmer months, there’s a very spacious outdoor area and beach volleyball court, and an XBOX on the first floor. The only drawback is the bar’s location, just a bit further from the hub than we’d like (since this is primarily a student pub). In fact, this venue has seen four or five bars fail miserably due to it’s out of the way location.
If you’re in the mood for a more clubby atmosphere, head downstairs at Philthy’s. The basement is a nightclub, and, with its limestone walls and, darkness, and underground location, it seems a bit like a cave. The music is dance themed, and, of course, there is a bar. It’s usually not as busy as upstairs, so the nightclub can be a good place to grab a drink.
Philthy’s also offers your typical pub fare at reasonable prices. On Mondays wings are cheap, and always very tasty. The grill is open for lunch, and if it’s your first time there, you get something free. We don’t know what that is since we came before this policy was in place. You can bring your kids during the day (there’s a menu for children 10 and under). Probably a bad idea to take them at night- you’ll have to leave them outside.
Daily and nightly specials are offered, although nothing is particularly awesome or cheap, except the $2 tequila shots (you’ll get drunk – fast) and the honey garlic Philwings. Thank god they are not offered on the same night.
