There are 17 branches of the Kingston Frontenac Public Library, however the biggest and most central location is the aptly termed Central Branch. This mammoth structure on Johnson street is an invaluable additional to the Kingston community: it’s welcoming, useable and enriching.
The Central Branch boasts not only a decent selection of non fiction and fictional works, but also newspapers, music, and dvds. Their dvd selection is actually quite impressive, and rivals that of a good video store. With the ability to order online you could be set with reading and entertainment material for months on end without even having to sift through the shelves! They also offer free mail delivery of materials through the “Books by Mail” program. Patrons who live beyond five miles from the nearest branch and who are unable to visit a library in person can receive any material delivered to their home, free of charge.
All branches offer free internet and cheap printing services. Additionally, there are free computer seminars offered to those who could use a little training with the internet or with computer applications in general.
If you are in need a quick snack or cup of coffee, the Bookends Café, located right inside the library is a convenient option.
Various book clubs, children’s events, and teen programming are ongoing at all branches and Kingston is home to a very active Friends of the Library Organization.
Library cards are offered free of charge to local residents, simply show a piece of id with your current Kingston address or a student card for temporary student residents.

This makes me want to move back to Kingston!
I have been to the library and the staff is below average service. They act as if they own the library and do not give a nice friendly service to the customers. I don’t know if it’s my ethnic background but I found they cold shouldered my Chinese friend as well. I would not recommend this library to anyone and definitely the worst service I have experienced in my whole life.
