Eve’s Grocery

December 12, 2006

Eve’s Grocery at the corner of Clergy and Barrie creeps me out. They carry about five products, are always cooking something in a crock pot, and usually look kind of closed. All that aside, I kind of love the place.

Dolan’s Smo-king, Indeed

November 23, 2006

Dolan’s Smo-King (I’m not totally sure that’s its name- its sign has ‘Smo’ and ‘king’ separated by a pipe), is definitely one of downtown Kingston’s quirkiest shops.

The Daisy Mart at Barrie & Earl

November 13, 2006

Campus One Stop

October 27, 2006

Campus One-Stop (previously College Variety) is a Kingston institution. It’s located in the heart of the Queen’s student ghetto, right across from KCVI (a local high school). Sure, it’s a convenience store selling bread and twizzlers and a dazzling array of sugar cereal, but Jimmy and his odd crew of family and friends that run [...]
