Located in the sub-basement of the JDUC on the Queen’s University campus, Alfie’s can serve as a bunker as well as a nightclub. Alfies was renovated a few years ago to give it more of a relaxed, lounge-like feel. The club is very dark, with lamps and blacklights providing limited, intimate lighting.
For those who are looking to get their groove on, Alfie’s is a great place to go- especially on Friday nights. Arrive early or really late on Fridays; it tends to be packed and the lineups go all the way up the entrance stairway. There is a small raised stage where people can dance, and a marked off dance floor in front of it.
Ample couches and chaise lounges are scattered about the bar. Be sure to check for wet spots on them before you sit down; drunk students’ hands are not as steady as would be ideal.
$6 doubles are available Fridays, as well as $13 dollar bottles of red wine before 11:00 pm. Getting drinks can take a little while, but never too long as there are two bars.
There are a couple of coin-operated pool tables near the booths at the back of the club.
All entrants must show student ID or be accompanied by a student with a valid student card.
